Emirates Baggage Fees (2026)

Updated 2026-06-24

Quick summary

Emirates is a full-service Gulf carrier known for generous baggage. Most routes use the weight concept: instead of paying per bag, you get a total kg allowance that you can split across as many bags as you like (each up to 32kg). Economy allowances scale with the fare tier — Special, Saver, Flex and Flex Plus — from 20kg up to 35kg. Routes to and from the Americas (and from Africa) instead use a piece concept. Always confirm your exact allowance on your booking, as it depends on fare and route.

🎒 Personal item

In addition to the cabin bag, Emirates Economy passengers may carry small items such as a handbag, laptop bag, or duty-free purchase, subject to fitting under the seat or in the overhead bin within the cabin allowance.

🧳 Carry-on

Free in Economy: one piece of carry-on baggage (a handbag or laptop bag) not exceeding 55 x 38 x 20 cm and weighing no more than 7kg. Business and First Class allow two cabin pieces. Oversize or overweight cabin bags may be moved to the hold.

How to avoid extra fees

  • On weight-concept routes you can bring as many bags as you like as long as the total stays within your allowance and no single bag exceeds 32kg.
  • Higher Economy fares (Flex, Flex Plus) include more weight (30–35kg), so compare the fare upgrade against buying extra baggage.
  • If you're flying to or from the Americas, your allowance is counted by piece, not total weight — pack accordingly.
  • Always buy any extra baggage online or in the app before you fly; airport excess rates are significantly higher.
  • Keep your cabin bag at or under 7kg and 55 x 38 x 20 cm to avoid it being moved to the hold at the gate.

Emirates baggage — FAQ

How much checked baggage is included on Emirates Economy?

What is the Emirates Economy carry-on allowance?

One piece of carry-on baggage up to 55 x 38 x 20 cm and a maximum of 7kg in Economy, plus small personal items. Business and First allow two cabin pieces.
